SUSAN HEFUNA

The work of multimedia artist Susan Hefuna takes up everyday aspects of life with which she explores the indeterminacy of location and identity and her negotiation of her own identity through photography, video, drawing and digital media. Much of Hefuna's work is informed by her dual heritage, which often features striking images of family, interior spaces and cityscapes in and around Cairo. Hefuna has exhibited her work internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions including: Sharjah Biennial, 2007; Louvre Paris, 2004/2005; Townhouse Gallery, Cairo, 2004; Bluecoat Arts Centre, Liverpool, 2004; Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken, 2004; House of World Cultures, Berlin, 2003; Biennale Bamako, 2003; Photo Cairo, 2003; CU Art Galleries, Boulder, 2003; navigation xcultural, The National Gallery South Africa, Cape Town, 2000.
Susan Hefuna lives and works in Germany and Egypt.
